One’s degree of integrity is fueled by grateful eyes that see abundance rather than a need for more.
You click “Place Order.” A cheerful page appears. Thank you for your purchase! And right below it, before the thanks even settles: You may also like. It’s gratitude and more. On the same screen. In the same breath. It’s a small window into a much larger world. One that expects more, rewards more, and quietly needs us to keep wanting more. An engine fueled by a hunger that never feels filled. So we delay gratitude until there is enough. Yet enough never quite arrives. Because the finish line keeps moving.
Picture two people at the same holiday table. Same food. Same faces. One is busy noting what’s missing. The dish that didn’t turn out. The gravy, a little thin. The conversation that went sideways. All in the name of making it better next year … while this year slips by untasted. The other is simply savoring what is … imperfections and all. Grateful. Same table. Different eyes. Gratitude isn’t a list. It’s a lens. And it changes the order of everything. We don’t become grateful once we have enough. Gratitude is how we come to see there was enough all along … and then some. Integrity runs on a different fuel. Not the need for more. The quiet overflow of what already is.

What have I been counting … that I might begin to see with grateful eyes and simply enjoy?
